What makes 3D Anaglyph Glasses trick your brain into seeing in 3D?


3D glasses with the appropriate colored lenses lets you view anaglyphs because each eye sees a picture that's slightly different. For example: red-blue anaglyph 3D glasses cause the eye viewing through the red filter to to see red images as "white," and blue images as "black." (with the brain providing some adaption for color); the eye covered by the blue filter perceives the opposite effect. True white or true black areas are perceived the same by each eye. The brain notices that each eye sees a different image, assumes that this is the result of different distances, and blends them together. A normal stereograph image is created without the viewer having to cross their eyes.
